Plehn's Bakery Order Policies
Deposits / Prepayments
All custom cakes (flavors or decorations), cookies, and cupcakes require pre-payment in advance.
All specialty/custom cake orders must be placed in person at the store. Wedding cakes/orders and tier cakes have their own policies.
Cancellations / Changes
All cancellations and changes must be made 48 hours in advance (excluding wedding cakes). At that point, orders will not be refunded. Wedding flavors and design changes require two (2) weeks notice.
Refunds
- Every order is hand-made.
- Decorative finishes are done by hand and will vary based on the decorator doing your order. We do have multiple decorators, so there will be some differences person to person.
- Photographs that are provided for inspiration/duplication can be used - but we do not guarantee to exactly duplicate the picture.
- Colors are subjective - if you are looking for a specific shade, you will need to bring in a physical color sample and there will be an additional charge for color matching. We will get as close as we can - but do not guarantee shade.
- Due to the handcrafted nature of our products, we will no longer provide refunds once the cake/cookie/cupcake order has been picked up and "accepted" by the person picking up the order.
- When you place a specialty order, you will be asked to review your order ticket and initial that it is correct, as well as initialing that you understand our policies.
- When you place a standard design, with no customization beyond color/message, you will not have to initial when placing the order.
- When you pick up your cake/cookie/cupcake order, we will ask you to review the ticket and the product. If the order is not as specified on the ticket, we will make every attempt to fix the order as promptly as possible prior to your leaving the store. Adjustments made to the design not on your order ticket may incur an additional charge. Any adjustments made after the cake has been "accepted" will be an additional charge.
- Refunds requested due to decorating style, writing, color, or general design will not be honored after signing for the cake.
- If you decide to NOT accept the cake, we will offer a refund (minus a 25% cancellation fee), however you do NOT get to keep the cake. This is a "Take It, or Leave It" Policy.
- All products are the responsibility of the customer once the order leaves the store. We are not responsible for damage to the order that occurs during transport or due to handling. Please note that specialty cakes are delicate and must be transported with care.
- Do not leave cakes in hot/warm cars
- Cakes must ride flat - back of a SUV or Van, or flat on the floorboards. Do not put cakes in seats or on laps.
- Make sure to carry cake so the box is level - and carry it from the bottom - do not press on the sides or the top of the box.
- Cake flavor and texture is subjective. An order may qualify for a partial refund if you bring it back in a timely fashion and we determine there was a quality issue with it. If you try it and don't care for it - then we hope you try something different next time, but we will not provide refunds due to "not liking" the product.
